A Big Hug and a Thank You to Ernie
Watts for his performance on this album. Ernie you are
truly a Gift to the world, and Bill Cunliff is the best
studio pianist around. I feel really blessed that I
was able to have these great artists on this album.
The album was recorded at Sonora Recorders on Los Feliz
Blvd in L.A. Richard Barrons, co-owner of Sonora Recorders,
did the final mix on my first album. He did such a great
job that there was no question about where I’d
record this album. Richard has such a great since of
humor, you laugh a lot, Richard suggested that we give
Ernie Watts and Bill Cunliff a call, which we did. They
listened to my first album and agreed to go into the
studio with Larry and me. However these guys are in
such great demand that getting everyone together at
the same time was definately a challange.
Larry wanted this album to be just me, but I got him
involved on the song ‘Alright OK’ he also
plays guitar on a few of the numbers. I love you my
sweet great man.
I recently found my vocal coach, whom I hadn’t
seen in 40 years. Her name is Laura hart and she still
teaches from her home in Studio City, California. When
we dropped in on her she didn’t recogize me, but
graciously invited us in. She immediately had me sit
next to her at the piano and said: “sing”..then
she remembered me. I gave her my first album and we
left. It was so great seeing her again. Then late that
evening she called to say she and her husband listend
to the album and said; Sydne the world has to hear you,
you are wonderful!”. I couldn’t believe
what she had just said, what a wonderful compliment,
I had had such doubts about me singing again. Laura
suggested I sing “Scotch and Soda”which
is a fun song. Laura God Bless you, you are giving your
special gifts to students, some famous, and a long waiting
list of new hopefuls.
I’d like to thank my children. The title of this
album ‘Pure Imagination’ was the last movie
Larry and I had taken our son Curtis to. I beleive he
was 10 or 11 years old, (he wouldn’t go to any
more movies after that, after all he was to old to be
seen with his parents!) That’s the reason I wanted
to sing this song. I the love the words of hope and
dreams it gives you. I believe in what the song tells
us. If it weren’t for my imagination I wouldn’t
have ever sang again. Your dreams can and do come true.
My Curtis has been the one who has encouraged me the
most since he was 12 years old. He has been at every
recording and performance (he does the lighting and
sound for us). Curtis also designs my albums. I’m
proud of our daughter Lisa also. They’re my heart
and my joy. Last I’d like to thank our community
here in the mountains, Lake Arrowhead, for their support
in coming to see us perform. We’ve had some fun
times. We are so lucky to be living in such a beautiful
place with such nice people. Bless you all, we love
you!
As I have said before, I hope you can feel how much
I love singing and feel the love I have for you as I
sing these songs! If I can be an example for anyone
at any age to get back to their purpose, (what your
heart has been telling you), do it! That would give
me such joy and what a gift you’d be giving back
to me! You can do it, get your courage up. If I can
do it anyone can! It’s waiting for you. You will
be given so much back.
Love and God Bless you all,
Sydne
